hothouse spa & saunna!

v-seawa-55041748_id49742_guide_inclusionthis past thursday jaime and i took a trip to hothouse spa & sauna. this was my first time going to a spa so i wasn’t sure what to expect. it ended up being a happy surprise!

it took us about an hour to get to capitol hill. this was due to the gps taking us in circles…literally, and then taking us downtown for some magical reason. parking was next to impossible to find on capitol hill as well due to hipsters and some weird beauty pageant that was taking place. we finally decided to park in a paid parking area. it was supposed to be $5 to park there for two hours, but the parking meter must have been feeling greedy and it charged jaime’s credit card $12!

the sauna was fairly inexpensive compared to the other spas in seattle. it was $13 for use of the spa and locker rental. thee were showers, a relaxation area, a hot tub, a steam room, a sauna, a cold water plunge, and massages! you had to pay quite a bit more for the massages so we passed on those.

we went in the hot tub first, which had bubbling water and powerful water jets. the warm water and jets against my back felt wonderful! i have some knots and tense spots on my back and seemed to ease up in the water. we showered and then hopped in the sauna. it was 170 degrees in the sauna so we stayed in there long enough to break a nice sweat.

i decided to try the cold water plunge. the cold water plunge was a giant shower head that you would stand under, pull a lever, and the water would come rushing out. the water was cold, but it wasn’t freezing. it was a bit of a shock, but a nice shock after being in the sauna. we hopped back in the hot tub for a couple of minutes and then called it a night.

the spa was great! it was warm, relaxing and they had some great smelling incense burning. i didn’t have any trouble going to sleep last night!

visit seattle and i’ll take you to the hothouse!
